HELP US GROW INTO THE BEST NORTH DEVON INFORMATION SOURCE ON THE WEB
I love this area and felt I could create a little site that will show the area. I built a 4 page site that reflected how I felt about the area and gave potential visitors a little information. When I started it I didn't realize just how popular it would become. What started as 4 pages has now become 1000 plus, following phone calls from locals and potential visitors looking for info. I would find the info they wanted and then add it to the site. I now get many many calls from all over the world and I will always do my best to answer questions, even if this means a search on my part and then calling back. What information I find is then added to the site. |
There are various ways that you could help.

| 10. | I AM ALWAYS INTERESTED IN RECEIVING OLD PHOTOGRAPHS RELATED TO THE AREA - I am happy to come and collect them - scan them- and then return them immediately. I'm interested in places, events or people. I'm not looking for professional contributions (I wont turn them away) I am looking for contributions from people who, like me, love the area and want to show the best of it to the world. If you're like me and getting on in years you might find helping out to be very stimulating and worthwhile If you do send photos please include details of the location and if it is of something you feel is important to the area then include details of why. I will return them as soon as possible. Contributions for publication can be e mailed, posted or telephoned. I don't mind how they get to me as long as they do. One of the things I am looking for is information about any of the crew members of the pleasure yacht Monarch that sank off Tunnel beach, Ilfracombe 26th August 1887. Of the 22 to 26 people on board 14 were drowned. I have managed to trace relatives of Charles Buckingham, one of those that died and would like to find more about the others on board. Anyone related to one of the survivors with a story to tell would be good. Here's a drawing of the tragedy |

I'm more than happy to get a phone call from anyone who has a titbit of interesting information that could be used, even if it means I need to do some research to fill out the detail. The information can be about a place a business a person or a family. I am trying to make this the best site about our beautiful area, both interesting and accurate with a mine of information. There are many sites about us but a lot are very innacurate and rarely updated. This site is updated at least once a day, often many times.
In addition to helping to keep this site on line I am looking for supporters/sponsors for the annual town crier competition held in Ilfracombe. Roy Goodwin the town crier has organised and run this event for a long time and subsidised the cost of putting on what is a wonderful show for everyone. He is not in a financial position to be able to continue. Would you like to help by making a donation or maybe your company would like to come forward and help to sponsor this event. If you would like to make a donation you can do so using the donate link below - in the message box that is part of the donation form put "donation for town crier competition". If you would like to sponsor the event then please get in touch by phoning 01271 831296 UK number or by e mail to admin@tour-devon.com
Without donations or sponsors the competition will not take place
