HOWEVER IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW A BIT ABOUT US FIRST, READ ON.

The county of Devon is one place but within its boundaries there are two different worlds.

South Devon went down the tourist route many years ago and as a result is now served by big roads, big venues and bright lights. If that’s what you’re looking for then that’s the place to go.

North Devon is a different world. Although we are a popular tourist destination we have not gone for all the razzmatazz that implies. Our roads were built for the horse drawn carriage. Our houses built for families and our entertainment and shopping facilities still reflect this.

Come here to relax and enjoy some of the most spectacular scenery in the world. Don’t rush, take your time and enjoy our slightly slower pace of life. As you work through this site you will find many fascinating places that are well worth the effort to explore. You will find places to eat that still give value for money combined with some of the best food in the UK. Commercial fishing is still part of the way of life and as a result fresh fish is available in many of our quality restaurants. Agricultural is also part of our lives and the produce from this is also available.

Don’t be afraid to talk to the locals, we love to chat and you won’t find a better source of information on where to go or what to do.

Don’t get me wrong, we do have the modern shopping centres and the big out of town superstores; we also have family owned and run businesses that have been in the same family for decades. We still have the traditional pannier markets (the name comes from the panniers that were carried by horse or donkey to bring the goods to market). We have outdoor markets and tiny shops down secluded streets. To put this another way we have so much for you to explore. A day trip could start you on a totally different way of life. There are many residents who came here to visit and are still here. It is an area that is so easy to fall in love with.

I do this site  because I love the place and want to share it with as many as possible. I don’t do it for profit. It’s my hobby or should I say, my way of life.

Now I will let you go to explore the rest of this site. If you have any questions I will be very happy to answer them for you. Just click on one of the e mail links that are on most of the pages and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Include a phone number and I will give you a ring.
